Juan Valdeath I think this is great! I'm always a sucker for the contrast of soaring melodic guitar leads and heavy, trudging riffs (although there is a good amount of variety here, too, with some softer and some faster passages). I also dig the non-English lyrics (in Latvian!) and the lion's roar vocals, which are occasionally mixed with a black metal-style rasp.

Bertrand Marchal Frailty opened their career with their masterpiece and the band never managed to keep that high level. This new 2020 album almost puts things back on an even keel. I'd have liked it more daring, but its pedestrian parts aren't deterring in any ways. The overall tone is dark and mean and it's enjoyable and entertaining all the way through.

Frailty is a modern doom metal band, from Riga, Latvia, creating and performing dark and disturbing sounds of melancholy and tragedy. Frailty’s music is the reflection of humanity’s sickness, sorrows and coldness expressed through many faced musical approaches starting from influences of early doom/death metal, slowly evolving into more abstract ambient and ethnic soundscapes. ... more
